First Caribbean Festival takes over Downtown Belleville Saturday — inquinte.ca
One day after the return of Downtown at Dusk comes a new festival for the Friendly City. The first Belleville Caribbean Festival takes place on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Front Street between Bridge and Victoria streets. The event will be active with entertainment and excitement in the form of music, art and cuisine.
TMHF receives $25,000 gift from local couple — inquinte.ca The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation is thanking one of its generous donors for their continued support to local healthcare including a recent $25,000 donation. Howie Knapman and his wife Marilyn (Taffy) have been an active volunteers with the Foundation for 30 years by selling raffle tickets, shredding documents, stuffing mailers or sitting at a Hole in One at the Golf tournament. Major boating event this weekend in Quinte — inquinte.ca A major boating event is taking to local waterways in Quinte this weekend. The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club is hosting the Canadian Shark Championship Saturday and Sunday. As many as seven (7) races will be sailed over the two days. New playgrounds at three Belleville parks unveiled — inquinte.ca It was a time to celebrate three of Belleville's city parks. Members of City Council were joined by Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith and Hastings-Lennox and Addington Ric Breese recently to unveil new playgrounds built at Haig Park, Stanley Parkette and Cascade Park. Community rallying to help Chilangos rebuild after devastating storm — inquinte.ca The community is rallying behind a popular downtown restaurant that was heavily damaged in last week's severe storm and have set up a GoFund Me account to help them rebuild. Chilangos Mexican Restaurant was forced to close after a severe thunderstorm ripped the roof off of the building. Owners Marlem Power and her brother Abraham Ramos Serratos announced on Facebook that they would be closing for an unknown amount of time and even donated their food stock to shelters in the area. Brighton goalie nets bursary for making big impact off the ice — inquinte.ca Brighton Minor Hockey Association’s four-time winner of the Most Dedicated Award and two-time Most Valuable Goalie is not only being recognized for his on-ice play but for scoring high marks in the classroom. Wellington Rotary exceeds fundraising target for hospital — inquinte.ca Wellington Rotary has exceeded its target contribution toward a new hospital in Picton. Two medals for outstanding volunteerism awarded in Quinte West — inquinte.ca Two Quinte West volunteers have been recognized for their heart and dedication to the city in very different ways. Alex McNaught and Kelly Scott were awarded the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers on Monday for the preservation of community history and the building of youth through sport, respectively. McNaught, a local historian and community leader, played a large role in the redevelopment of Wallbridge Park. Coun.
